Tonight was alright, my lecture and tut on International Finance was hella boring but I pulled through ok. Then I had a meeting with the society thing im involved in and that went pretty good too. This year has been pretty good with the whole me getting to meet-other-people-from-Swinburne thing, I thought I already knew a few people but this year has gone a bit nuts. First it was getting selected to go on that overseas delegation for Swinburne which was a blast and I met some great people on that trip which I still run into even though they have all moved on to doing other things (they were mostly all post graduate students). Then getting more involved in running this society thing and generally being more open to people at school has bought a whole new set of acquintances which has also turned out a lot better than expected. I remember when I use to come to uni and dread running into people that I knew at school, mostly they were piss poor students that hardly ever came to school and just wanted to get the fuck out of uni. But now I come to school and almost every day I run into someone outside of my lecture/tuts that wants to have a chat with me without giving off all that nervous I-hardly-know-you vibe, and the weird thing is that I actually quite enjoy conversing back.
It's just a shame that 90% of these people I've met are final year students so they'll all be pretty much gone by the start of next year which is a shame, because they are really nice people and I wish I had met them earlier. I guess that can be a problem with meeting people at uni, often by the time everyone is pretty relaxed with it, it's their final semester. Or they are really comitted to doing post grad studies + work/start ups + raising kids or whatever and just don't have the time.
