You can't "like everything"
People when it comes to music, saying that you "like everything" is a
cop out answer. Liking everything = loving nothing. I don't believe a
person can be really passionate about ALL music. Pick some fucken
music and be proud to say you love it. If you give me that "like
everything" answer I'm hardly going to keep a music conversation going
with you. Even if you love something I'm not that interested in
personally, at least I will admire your enthusiasm for it.

i say i "like everything" for that exact purpose, to stop a conversation about music dead in its tracks. i get sick of people who's musical intake consists solely of whatever triple m is plugging this month asking me what music i like and then having their eyes glaze over because i didn't say "r&b".
if it's someone who's hinted at having broader taste in music then i'll rattle off whatever i'm into at the moment but there's no way to explain concepts like funeral doom and aggrotech to someone who considers fergie to be one of their favourite "artists".
