Today my girl got into medicine, I'm so happy that words can't describe. Well maybe they could if it wasn't late and I hadn't drunk some beers.

Congrats astro! You're my girl and I love you!

If everything goes to plan, in exactly two months I will have worked my last shift at my current work. That makes me feel better about things and also makes 2 months seem like an eternity.

Hopefully I might be able to leave a bit earlier if I'm lucky.

So what's going on over here in my corner? The usual, work, sleep, eat, heat and one day of doing fun things with Astro a week, and that is about it.

I was going to post a giant rant about, all this talk about drought and why it is making me so stressed out, however I decided to delete it cause you lot already know the problems and me telling you all about it isn't going to help anything!

You may have read this, it is titled "Secret Letter From Iraq" it is from a marine in Iraq to his family which somehow got circulated on the Internets. Time magazine tracked down the author and verified his stories, then republished it here.

I have a few favourite parts, be sure to check out the "Most Surreal Moment" and the "Best Chuck Norris Moment" however I found the following part to be the point that I have been thinking about all night:

"Second Biggest Mystery — if there's no atheists in foxholes, then why aren't there more people at Mass every Sunday?"

Good question...

So today I went back to work after having my first day off since I
started my job pretty much 2 or 3 days after uni finished waaay back
in July. It was a bad idea really, I felt really out of it most of the
afternoon and went into coughing spasms on at least 4 occasions while
people were on the phone, I even managed to hang up on one person due
to mashing my phone keypad trying to hit the 'hold' button but instead
hit the 'release' button (right next to each other on my phone). Still
I need to go to work to earn the monies for stuff I'll need in Sydney
and so on. I sorta wish I was accruing sick and paid leave like a
normal job though, being casual they make it extremely hard for you to
organise time off at any point because you are supposedly getting paid
"big bucks" to not have holidays, screw that, we all know that (A) it
really isn't that big of the bucks and (B) not having holidays suck.

So now I am about to go to bed, splattering and coughing like a
drunken wine-o on his last legs, I hope I get better soon, my poor old
weak lungs can't take this crap.

I thought I had something interesting to post but I guess I don't!

I saw the doctor today to get some drugs for my chest infection, due to my parents are OS at the moment, on a Greek island somewhere I do believe. The doctor I saw went over me pretty quickly, he was prodding my face and ears pretty hard. In fact just a few hours ago I was getting pain in my right ear again that was similar to the pain I had the other day. I realised just now that this is probably due to the fact that he jammed a thermometer in my ear pretty damned hard. Essh.

Although it could just be my saga with the sinuses, who knows.
I thought this was a really "sweet" flash movie

So what have I been doing lately? Well apart from the ominous work, I've pretty much just been sick. First it was the ear problem, then it was a sore throat problem, then it became a really bad sore throat problem and now it is a chest infection problem. Joyous no?

I must say astro is being a good sport about it all, she doesn't get any sleep because of my work antics and now that I am sick it is even worse for her. At least I got to have a nice day with her yesterday, it was nice and warm and we actually left the flat and did something fun (except for the 2 snakes in the grass, that was not cool).

Also my sisters (and mine I guess) cat 'kitty' is on his last legs it would appear, the poor tacker has a lung of heart problem and has been near death the last 2 weeks, he seems to rebound and then get even worse, my sister is taking him to a specialist on monday to see if they can fine out exactly what the problem is, I hope they can so she can hopefully treat kitty so he will live out his remaining days in comfort.

Poor poor kitty, he might be one cranky cat but he doesn't deserve to die in pain and so young!

I've been playing a new game! Yeah instead of constantly playing all the games I use to cain over the last 10 years on my laptop I decided to fire up the desktop and play a new one, it is call Company of Heroes and it is probably the most fun RTS i've played in campaign mode since Starcraft or C&C, the AI is really decent (ie. just doesn't give after a certain amount of time, I've played certain missions for HOURS because of this), it is pretty easy to get into and has a little more depth than you think, the only drawback I find is the constant micro management of all your battles, which is good a bad I guess, I think i'm just a little rusty and that is why I thought it was bad, now I don't mind it.
