You may have read this, it is titled "Secret Letter From Iraq" it is from a marine in Iraq to his family which somehow got circulated on the Internets. Time magazine tracked down the author and verified his stories, then republished it here.

I have a few favourite parts, be sure to check out the "Most Surreal Moment" and the "Best Chuck Norris Moment" however I found the following part to be the point that I have been thinking about all night:

"Second Biggest Mystery — if there's no atheists in foxholes, then why aren't there more people at Mass every Sunday?"
