Lemon pepper and Thyme finely chopped on steak is much better than I thought it would be, I put quite a bit on thinking it would be over powering, but man it was subtle and so so tasty. It tastes great char grilled.

I'd advise everyone to go out and buy one of those cheap char grill plates at Target (they are about 20 bucks) and start eating the tasty goodness. I'm never going back to using a frypan for steak ever again!

Is it the sort that collects the fat and assorted drippings on charcoal, which then gives off the delicious smoke which makes everything taste delicious?

Nar it's not one of those george forman grill plates or anything like that. And its not a charcoal one either. Its just a heavy grill plate, that has the grill grooves on it. They are very cheap and I thought it would be hella crap or break but it really is excellent if you follow the instructions of looking after it.

I rub Lemon Pepper and Thyme into whole chicken breasts and then put them in the oven for a while. They come out so succulent and delicious. Serve with salad, makes me wanna splooge.

Should try one of those grills. I've been keen to get a small bbq so that I can grill my steaks, I'm sick of using a frying pan, it's just WRONG.

I used to sit a piece of chicken breast onto a piece of foil and pour on a marinade of a mixture of basically whatever I had in the cupboard - tomato paste, chopped up onion, garlic, chilli sauce, and some asian sauces(ie black bean), wrap it up in a couple layers of foil, and put it in the oven for a while on a medium heat..its so succulent. I also like rice with tuna and mayonaise as something simple to make.

Sorge: Frying pans are WRONG! Fight the power!

Steph: Rice, tuna and mayonaise sounds WRONG! Perhaps thats because I absolutely cannot stand tuna and the though of it mixed in with rice and then mayonaise makes me wanna hurl!

You guys got some good steak rubs/marinades you wanna suggest I try?

Its like a risotto I guess. You don't need much mayonnaise either. It's very nice. And I used to hate tuna. Until Istarted eating the flavoured ones on RiVita..ie tuna mixed with sundried tomatos or lemon and black pepper etc.. Then I started eating plain tuna with various things..

I practically live on tuna, can't get enough of it. Plain tuna chunks in springwater. A lovely accompaniment for salads, excellent with rice or pasta with chilli & crisp vegetables.

I did a nice steak rub the other night. Had a roo fillet, rubbed it down with a little bit of sesame oil, cracked pepper, paprika & sesame seeds. Put it in the oven for about half an hour... *hip thrust*

ps: frying pans are cheap/convenient. I totally agree though, havem't used a frying pan in about a year, always do my steak/chicken/fish in the oven. It's a hell of waste of power though considering i'm cooking for one.
