What do you do when you feel like you don't want to do the things "young" adults "do", yet can't be bothered doing what "middle aged" adults do? Do you just jump forwards and take the transformation of becoming older in your stride or do you cling on to doing things you have done a millions times before and just don't care about anymore?
Or do you just do neither and feel akward?

Man I never knew there was a Open Source Transport Tycoon Deluxe. It is a clone of the original TTD and has a HEAP of cool advancements/features over the original, best bit is that you can play it on linux, windows and MacOS! Wheeeee!

Remember this post where I was talking about my highest score in Snake II? Well, prepare to be AMAZORED when I tell you that last night I broke my highest score! Which use to be under 3000 but now it is 3308! And I pretty much had the entire screen covered with only about 5 or 6 spaces left, rulez0rb0r.
Ok now it's off to uni.

I was about to get all ragey about some idiot putting a lock on our back gate, however I have discovered that some has put a lock on the big gate but hasn't actually chained it up, so I can still get out through the back way. Still, it fucken shits me off that they are trying to restrict access to the alley ways, walking through the alleyways on the way to school, train or any of the shit i leave the house for saves at least 5 to 10 minutes of walking, otherwise I have to walk down the driveway out the front of my place, up and around the side of our block and then into the back alley way anyway!
I think I know who the problem is, it's this old woman who has been living in these flats forever who has a problem with people walking down our driveway who aren't residents. Yeah I can see her point, but seriously just deal with it? There has never been a problem in the time I've lived here with the people passing through and the reason is this, it saves them time! They don't want to go screaming/stomping/smashing/looting their way down our driveway because they APPRIECATE the convenience it provides them. This woman seriously complains about everything when I see her, we get too much junk mail, the garbage trucks are too loud on Monday morning, the other residents are too noisy (some of the times I agree with her on that one), too many strangers walk down the driveway, people shouldn't have pets in the apartments, wah wah wah put a sock in it dolly, you drive me insane.
If someone ends up locking the big gate out the back I am seriously going to start ragin' hard at our real estate agent, I'm sure I'll have no legal grounds to stand on (unless there is something about restricting access to tenants on a property?) but I don't care, I'm going to call people, write letters and generally just shit people off. If worse comes to worst I'll just go out there in the middle of the night and cut that fucker of a lock off.

Oh yeah the thing I was actually going to blog about yesterday. Shrike remember that movie you and I acted in for one of astro's video assignments? Well today I learnt they still show that video at uni as a "good example" of what to do for that assignment. I found this out via one of my group members for ISP asking me if I had did that subject before because they saw a guy in one video that "sorta" looks like me. :P He went on to say that most people find that video pretty funny even though we did it years ago, I think we missed our true calling :P

A few points:
1. I remember why I don't like winter so much, today was fairly cold for recent times and I've been constantly whizzing all day, damn body.
2. Point one has also probably been happening because I am addicted to Lipton ice tea lemon flavour drink, they are so damn good.
3. How much Commonwealth games SHIT can you cram in a news hour? Just ask Channel 10! I think about 5 minutes was dedicated to events that wasn't about games related crap.

God I am sick of uni already, todays classes were honestly a waste of time as they ended up being 98% revision of information I had already learnt in other finance subjects (The level 2 & 3 subjects at Swinburne has some servere overlap issues IMHO), and now I am just about to finish a project plan for my ISP group that due to my not attaching my project file I had worked on last week in a lab to an email I sent myself, is taking far more time and effort than it should be.
BTW I am also sick of this modem shitting itself when I run bit torrent, it has major problems handing a lot of TCP connections at once it would seem, even when you limit it in the software it still balls up until you put it to a stupidly low level that can't actually take advantage of the speed of full ADSL1. Supposedly this is a common problem and the only way to fix it is to get a different modem, people have tried many patches, fixes, software, firmwares, work arounds and they all end up as a no go. BALLS!

Today serp experiences the commonwealth games first hand. I was walking home from uni this afternoon with my head down trying to get my damn iPod working as it was on its last legs battery wise, I keep running into people, I figure that this is strange why are all these people out the front of Glenferrie High? I figure some school event just finished and they were all going to clear off, I keep walking trying to keep out of everyones road while hammering at my iPod controls trying to find some mix I wanted to listen too. I get maybe 100 metres up the road and I see all these old people sitting on chairs on the sidewalk, at the same time I see some cops on a bikes roar past wailing there sirens every few seconds, it then hits me that the bloody torch thing is coming down the road. I start to walk faster but more and more people keep appearing from nowhere, out of shops, up the road from houses, out of cars, all jammin' the sidewalk impeding my quest to make it to the major intersection near my house. I finally get to said intersection and when I get there some van comes whizzing up and stops near the traffic lights and lets some yuppie sports dude out, half the crowd cheers while the other half are saying "who is this guy?", this dude ends up being one of the relay runners, joy. I work my way around the crowd and defty move my hand between two old peoples junk trunks and press the button that makes the green walking man appear in the traffic lights across the road, I wait around while heaps of people rush up the road to take photos of the relay runner that is standing around waiting and posing for photos for other people already taking photos of him. In the midist of all this happen, I suddenly realise that my iPod has somehow gone into some bios mode where it has all these options to run all these tests, format my hard disc, check the temperature of certain bits and all sorts of crap, fascinated I start pawing through all the options and try every command that sounds like it won't make my iPod explode. From doing this I missed my lights, I press the button again, wait, and then start to walk across the road. All of a sudden some police guy jumps out at me and is all omgdontcrosstheroadbbq! Even though there was no traffic and the tourch thing was still ages down the road. So here I was, stranded on the wrong side of the road from my house, surrounded by 50% supporters of this thing and 50% nay-sayers (oh man, the shit people were sayin', yet they were still choosing to stand there and watch it), realising that I really need to take a massive dump, and getting hot cause the sun had really started to shine and I had my heavy backpack on. But anyway, I can't be bothered typing this post anymore so lets shorten it shall we? The tourch came down the road, not before about 20 to 30 cops on motorcycles came down before it, everybody cheered when the baton changed hands, many photos were taken, 10 seconds after the guy ran off up the street the crowd went away, I was allowed to cross the road and I went home and took a well deserved dump. The End.

Dear lord, the SSU finally went under. I have heard a lot of stories since the end of last year about what was going on with major personal and political issues inside the SSU. I actually thought the uni was just going to let them bumble along union the VSU stuff started to take effect, however i'm glad they stepped in and taken control. All my personal dealings with the SSU are mixed, some of the people there are great and very enthusiastic and passionate about Swinburne and want to see things get done, others get way to caught up in the politics of it all and try and scheme and conjuer shit up to suit their little band of friends needs or just to basically out of spite, it can get real pathetic real fast.
I'm surprised at the amount of fund the SSU has access too, 1.2 million seems like a lot of money for a uni like Swinburne, although if I think about it I can see where a lot of that cash would go, not that I would agree with where it actually goes.
I'm being pretty vague today aren't I?
I'm glad that I decided to this society thing i'm doing as far away from the SSU as I can, they really only hold benefit for very very small clubs or for particular situations, at all other times they are constantly telling you what you can't do, how they can't help you doing certain things or how you MUST do other certain things, it can be and extremely frustrating process.
Anyway, in other news I'm up way to early on a Saturday morning, I drove astro to the city this morning and I must say that driving around Melbourne when the traffic is light is pretty enjoyable. When there is about 20% of the normal traffic on the road you can actually get to where you want to go pretty easily and quickly, most people are polite and not pushy, it's fantastic!

What the hell? They are making a sequel to Dark Crystal?!!?
Damn it, why didn't anyone tell me it was "High Five a Muslim Day" on the 28th of Feb? Here is a video explaining about the day here.
Supposedly that video sketch got pulled off Australian TV because it may be see as "offensive to muslims", but the producers stuck to their guns and the Mufti of Australia issued a Fatwa about the sketch in a good light.
Gallery of the day is here.

I don't want it to be cold, I just want it to be 25 degrees and raining. Is that too much to ask? (Well yes it is :/ ).
Hahaha Joey Beltram and Frankie Bones have an all out arguement on Discogs. Two legends of techno have disagreements about how JB was signed to R&S, gold.
Another thread he shows people some graf he use to do before his music :)

Here is a tip for free, don't eat a salami sandwich and drink diet sunkist at the same time. The taste sensation you experience in your mouth is something like vomiting (I'm dead serious).
I think I like being at uni for the moment, it is safe, can easily be passed off as doing something important, not everyone does it, it is also considered to many to be a noble goal (although some would say uni is not worth doing at all).
Getting a job is not like this at all, sure everyone wishes you well at the start, congratulate you on getting a job, joining the workforce or the "real world" like so many people like to comment. But after you have a job for a while then what? You are just like anyone else, no one congratulates you for having a job, it is just what you "have to do". You don't get safe, easily definable goals and a detailed framework on how to achieve them. You don't get pieces of paper and a ceremony every few years where you dress up and get a pat on the back from all your friends and peers. All you get is uptight 30 to 50 somethings that are desperate to keep you in your place (ie. below them on the "corporate ladder"), constant unwanted critque of your work/performance, having to deal with unreasonable demands from people, at least 55 hours a week of your personal time dedicated to "being at work" (think about it, the 40+ hours actually at work, then the 1 or 2 hours per day travelling to/from work and the time it takes to "prepare" yourself for work, insane). What do we get out of this? Money, yeah that's good I guess, but is it enough money? Sure it is enough to live off, maybe even get yourself a decent car and house before you die, but never enough to satisfy you wild (or even moderate) personal desires, well unless you have money already coming to you from another source, or you want to put away even more of your personal time into working so you can get a better job which pays more.
Working sucks.
I really should stop putting off doing my grad position applications, otherwise I turn into a boring, moronic git that writes posts like these.

Today was a good day as I ended up getting some good group members for my ISP subject (Information Systems Project). What constitutes a good group member for me is someone that doesn't shy away from doing ANY work and someone who isn't wanting me in their group purely to get me to code 99% of the work requirements. These guys I got don't want me to do that, this is excellent, now I won't have to slave my guts out to churn out a decent program. One of the guys currently is working pretty heavily with Oracle db's for work and the other used Oracle at her IBL (Industry Based Learning) with Sensis last year (which I was surprised that Sensis would even use that!). So that really leaves me off the hook! Hooray!
I almost got suckered into a group with some international students who i was chatting to before class, I really like them but I could tell they were sizing me up to be "The Programmer" for them. I declined there early offer to join then and decided to wait and see if anything would arise in my favour, which is unusual for me as I usually just go "Sure why not, I'll join your group" to people and then realise that they pulled the wool over my eyes to them being pretty imcompotent. So I am REALLY REALLY glad I didn't take the easy route and waited.
In other news, I just had an afternoon nap, I don't generally do this so I must have been tired! HTH.

You should all go to http://www.propstore.com and look at useless movie props to buy. They have stuff from decent Sci-Fi there too like Blade Runner, Alien(s) movies, Terminator 2, Dune, 2001, heeeaappss of Red Dwarf stuff and a lot of other shit i can remember off the top of my head.
I want THIS cause Gary Busey touched it and Danny Glover would have been close by too (and it looks cool), it's a shame they didn't have the indestructable log from the OG Predator because I would have spent my life savings on it.
Maybe if I bought that gun I could start a website called www.meandgarybuseysgun.com where I go around taking picture of me and the gun at famous tourist attractions, lining up in coles, taking a dump. The possibilities are endless!
Oh yeah it also has a running suit from The Running Man, rock.
I wanna buy Shrike the second item down on this page.
And cat something from this page (although some of that shit is alright for the price!).

I just found out today that the subject convenor/lecturer for one of my finance subjects is the brother of Ian Turpie! That is gold! This guy also has a bit of a loud voice and presence about him that makes me think that maybe he was an actor or something earlier in his life.
EDIT: here is my lecturer I am talking about he actually seems to be pretty accomplished in academic circles.
